Korrine Salas Young
Korrine’s career has been shaped by her strong passion to create a more equitable society through education. She began her work in education as an elementary school teacher serving in high-needs schools. After leaving the classroom Korrine took a position as the Director of Education for Museo de Las Americas here in Denver. In this role, Korrine focused on creating programming that fused culturally responsive practices with the arts. From creating professional development seminars for Denver school educators to creating culturally sustaining arts workshops and tours for students, her work at Museo aimed to provide underserved youth access to multicultural arts education. After the museum, Korrine became K – 12 Outreach Program Coordinator for the Annette Strauss Institute at the University of Texas at Austin, where she created and implemented civic education programs designed to enhance equitable access to civic participation for Texas youth.
In her role as Community Engagement Director at Prosperity Denver Fund Korrine plays a critical role in helping to build strong relationships with the Fund’s partner scholarship providers and leads the organization’s community outreach activities.
Korrine earned a Master of the Arts in Teaching degree from the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. As a first-generation Latinx college graduate who depended on scholarships for her undergraduate studies, Korrine feels a deep connection to the mission and vision of Prosperity Denver Fund.
