Milagros Barsallo Rubio, Board Member
Milagros Barsallo Rubio is a proud Panamanian immigrant, community advocate, and public servant. After earning her Bachelors from Cornell University, she taught 3rd and 4th Grade in Denver Public Schools while earning her Masters from the University of Colorado Denver. She then began her work as a community organizer with Latine families. After consulting on several research and organizing projects for local and national nonprofits she co-founded RISE Colorado, a nonprofit supporting low-income families of color to RISE as change agents for educational equity. Milagros founded and led Pa’lante Ventures, coaching organizational leaders through different aspects of organizational development, growth, and transitions.
As a US Fulbright Scholar to Panama, she had the opportunity to teach community organizing and movement studies to students at the University of Panama organizing around the country, and conduct research with women activists leading movements toward systemic change around urgent social issues. Currently, she serves as the Outreach Director in the Denver Mayor’s Office, engaging Denverites on the issues most important to them.
